Heart rate monitor as custom input

Hey, I'm wondering if there's any way to access the heart rate sensor and use it as a customizable input or button, like how it can be used as a shutter button, maybe it could be a hotkey for a favorite app, or change input methods or something, anyone know if this is possible? I read somewhere that Tasker can access it but I haven't been able to find out how or what Tasker can do with it.

[Q] Adding Chinese to Hani ROM 1.01

So I am running Hani ROM 1.01 on this Note 4 in my hands right now - N910U. However the ROM is missing the Chinese languages. I tried the various language adding apps on Play Store but none of them seem to work. Is there any flashable zip or something that has the Chinese Traditional language pack available? G-Watch Won't answer incoming calls

Hi everyone, I had some strange behavior with my note 7 last night, it locked up for abou 10-15 seconds and then rebooted itself and got stuck in a bootloop, it looped through the first boot screen for around 10-15 cycles and eventually managed to boot up, I kept having random reboots and bootlooping for the next hour or so, I suspected it could be the stock browser as it seemed to be what I had open when most of the reboots occurred so I disabled it with EZ disabler, I haven't had any trouble since last night and I have re enabled the stock browser a day still don't seem to have any problems yet. I googled it and found that apparently a lot of people with the exynos variant are having similar issues, I read somewhere that it was the July date coded models that had the issue but mine is an August coded model, does anyone know anything about this?

Touchscreen issues

I wonder whether this issue exists only between me and my note7..;)

Very often I'd have to press same thing (be it button, link, key) an extra time for the phone to actually act on it. At first thought it had to do with the way I was holding the curved screen but it does the same when it's sitting on the table for instance. Kinda reminds me of the nexus 7 similar issues a few years back.

I have tested the touchscreen already and all seems to be fine, in a test environment that is all touches register ok.

So what do you think about this, could it be just some fancy lag?

Note 4 sm-n910f bricked

HEY, i need some help with regards to a galaxy note 4 sm-n910f it wont come on nor will it go into download mode, my friend tried rooting it but when he took it off and tried to turn it back on, it went into download mode a few times he tried to flash it via odin but he got some error with emmc write fail i think, i took it and tried to flash it via samsung kies same problem, as well as firmware along with pit file and same problem occured, another error noted was "there is no pit binary" when i attempted to flash it via odin, now it just wont come on, but when i plug it into the computer i could hear the sound it makes when connected, so im not sure what the problem is although after visiting forums as well as the ones here i have concluded that the emmc probably went bad, i was looking at different work arounds and was wondering if there is any unbrickable mod for the note 4 like what Adam Outler made and used for the captivate some years ago, i saw that it put the captivate into download mode without buttin combinations, if i can get it back into downlaod mode i would try heimdall if thats even possible... i have come across the jtag fix as well and octoplus i believe to fix the emmc... what do you guys recommend? any assistance is appreciated. :) the note 4 was on android 6.0.1 marshmallow

Is there anyway to make a WIFI Direct connection on the 5GHZ band?

Hi everyone,

I'm part of a robotics club in my school, and we use wifi direct with 2 phones to communicate between the robot and the remote control. We found that at times there would be a big delay between an input and a response from the robot at competition. We're assuming it has to do with a ton of other teams all using wifi direct at the same time and crowding up the 2.4 GHz band. So we were wondering if there was anyway to use WIFI Direct on the 5 GHZ band with the Nexus 6P or possibly any other phone you know of.

[Technical] Bypassing Restrictions on Samsung xCover3 Lollipop 5.1.1. [Read Desc]

Hello XDA, I am a user of a Samsung xCover 3, which is considered a low activity device. With Samsung as they are and the new restrictions placed on the phone after updating to Lollipop 5.1.1, obtaining root or a custom recovery is a hard task, which I and @VolterPL Have yet to crack.

Since about page 2, I and VolterPL have been trying different attack vectors to gain root but to no avail, I have been doing a decent amount of research in try various methods, will describe the methods below, and am wondering if you guys have any suggestions or corrections to different attack vectors to gain root. Since this is a low activity device their is no experienced developers working on this device.

So Without further ado, lets try and figure out this problem

Device Specifications:

• Current Android Version: Android Lollipop 5.1.1
• Chipset: Marvell Armada PXA1908 (Note: Due to this being a rarely used chip, the CF-Auto root wont work)
• Custom Recovery Status: TWRP 3.0.2-0 (More on this later on)
• Root Status (This is why I am here): Android KitKat 4.4.4 - Root , Android Lollipop 5.1.1. - NO ROOT
• ARM 64-bit

Currently Attempted Attack Vectors to Gain Root and TWRP on 5.1.1.

- Generic Flashing TWRP Via Odin, and then Flashing SuperSU

Failed: When Flashing TWRP with Auto Reboot: Enabled. This fails and Displays an message saying that "Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing. Then the recovery gets replaced with stock again, due to the "install-recovery.sh" script that is found in "/system/bin" which replaces the custom recovery to stock when it realize the SHA-1 sums are incorrect to what is has in the script

- Flashing TWRP Via Odin(Auto Reboot OFF), Flashing SuperSU, Removing the "install-recovery.sh" script and Flash TWRP Back again, http://ift.tt/2bTIA5Q

Failed: When Flashing TWRP with Auto Reboot: Disabled, so we could boot straight to TWRP. But when VolterPL tried, he failed, http://ift.tt/2bTI3Rc, it wont boot into any recovery. Also with the "Recovery is not Seandroid Enforcing" I realize Now (TODAY, 1/09/2016) that this will always show unless its signed by samsung.

- Compiling custom kernel with a flag disabled to allow switching between "Permissive" and "Enforcing" modes

Pefrormance issues

My nexus 5 is having lag issues with almost any rom/kernel . I flash rom and phone works good for about 2 days than pefrormance drop drasticly . (My setup is very light and I m sure that it is not problem).
After some time I see lag in chrome , yt etc.
Any way to fix it ?

[D855] 3G and 4G issues

Hello,

first of all, thanks for taking your time to read this.

So my problem is that my LG G3, that i bought used about 2 weeks ago, its an European Version (D855) and i am SURE that my ISP supports the bands that my phone does (800Mhz/1800Mhz, so band 3 and 20). THe problem is that whenever i have 3/4G selected, not 2G, the phone has contant restarts. The restarts happen on any AOSP based ROM (the only ones ive tried using), examples are CM13, CM12.1, LiquidSmooth, etc... On the default LG D855 ROM (installed with the LG PC suite) it simplly looses connection any time i use 3/4G, it does not restart but it does not have a stable connection. In the case of the custom ROMs the restarts happen anywhere between a second after boot or 5-10 minutes. Ive tried reinstalling CM multiple times, and have also tried reinstalling the european official ROMs, both 5.0 and 6.0. I DO have the correct APNs set. I have tried setting it to LTE only in the secret menu, did not change the resaults.

What do you think can be the problem, is this a HW problem or possibly a firmware, IMEI problem?

Boot-looping Nexus 6P - caused by Photo Sphere?

First post here at XDA - before I start with my problem, I should say thanks to everyone who posts here. I've come across this site so often when looking for information and always found it to be very helpful.

I was taking a Photo Sphere photo a few weeks ago, and after the photo had been taken, and during the processing/rendering stage, I looked away from my phone while holding it to let it work. I looked down to see the finished result about 30 seconds later and saw the Google startup screen. It appears that somehow, taking a Photo Sphere photo may have soft bricked my 6P, but I have no idea how. The phone itself was working perfectly normally prior to that.

I kept manually restarting it, powering it off, booting to recovery and restarting to see if I could get it back to normal with no success. It would occasionally, maybe one in twenty times, get to the Android boot animation, but would freeze after around 5 seconds on that, then restart again. Eventually, I thought to clear the cache partition via TWRP, so I did so and it then booted and loaded Android as normal. However, one of the first things I did was go to Settings to reset the time as it was wrong, and, as soon as it displayed the Settings screen, the phone restarted again, and no amount of cache clearing has resolved the issue since.

It's a 64GB 6P running Marshmallow 6.0.1, unlocked and rooted via Heisenberg's excellent guide and running TWRP 3.0.2.0, which was the latest available when I rooted. Right now, upon starting, it shows the "Your device software can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader." message as normal, then the Google logo, then it restarts and does the same again. I can access recovery mode as normal.

Does anyone have any ideas what steps I need to take to get my 6P operable again? Given that it booted after I wiped the cache then rebooted when I went to settings, my relatively uneducated presumption is that the root has somehow gotten messed up, but I don't know enough about troubleshooting Android to resolve it myself. I'd obviously prefer to avoid wiping it and losing data if possible. Although I'm a computer geek, I'm not 100% sure about Android ADB/fastboot commands and what to run to resolve this issue, so I thought I should defer to the experts here. I was considering flashing the factory image (part 11 of Heisenberg's guide) to see if that helped, but wasn't sure if that's the best first step to try at this point so thought it best to seek some advice rather than turn a soft brick into a hard one.

Airplane mode constantly turning on and off

My phone is rooted, im on stock 5.0.1 no custom recovery or anything like that. I haven't changed or done anything to the phone recently either.

If I hold the power button down and look at the airplane mode option it will flicker on and off and as I lose service. Every now and then I'll get service for 5-10 seconds but most of the time my phone signal and data connection are off. Wifi and bluetooth work.

Any suggestions?

how to check if my phone is encrypted

Been on KK until now, need quick update to current state of affairs.

Anyhow, is my phone fully encrypted? How do I check if it is? If it is can I make it decrypted?
The reason I'm asking, with MM Google made full encryption mandatory on most phones but IMO full phone encryption is useless, that's what secure folder and Knox is for and the fact that Crapple encrypts all its iphones is no reason, (so how long it took hackers to break into CA terrorist iphone, that supposed to be unbreakable even by Crapple engineers?).
N7 absolutely has the power to support full encryption, but Samsung being the biggest phone maker thankfully don't follow all Google's bad ideas (physical home button and SD card support come to mind as examples).
So what's the story here or is it a taboo, or maybe nobody cares?

Setting Default App in "Secure Folder", is it possible?

Note 7 (MS-N930A):
My question: in SECURE FOLDER mode, is there a way to set default app?
I store some eBook files in Secure folder (*.epub, *.mobi, etc), when opening these files, Note 7 cannot recognize these files (even I already install certain app to read those; In Normal Mode, I just go to ES File Explorer and open any files directly from there).
Work-around: I import the app to read *.epub, *.mobi into Secure Folder, and open those apps (from Secure Folder), then Open those files from OPEN menu; which is very inconvenient.
It would be great, if I just open Secure Folder, from My Files, explore the files, and DIRECTLY open from My Files.
Any suggestion will be appreciated and thankful.

1) I read this happens when you flash the wrong file, but this file was directly made for my phone! Why didn't it work?
2) How do I proceed from here? (I'd rather not have to wipe the phone or download the stock file)

GS6 fingerprint scanner for GS5!

Hi folks, I would ask a question about the GS5 fingerprint scanner hardware modifying and I don't know the right section for my post so I put it here the closest one. Anyway, I'm just wondering, is there any company has ever build a fingerprint scanner hardware for GS5 functions like the one in GS6 does? Just placing the finger to scan without swiping it, when thinking about it, you find it just replacing the original one with the customized one, and of course considering its software code, API or driver for developers to integrate it in their roms and simply detect if it has an original or customized one. That's it, I just really look forward for that.

Screen timeout = Call Drops

Started today. My phone drops call during screen timeout process. I take/make a call screen goes dark, which is fine. But If i move or take phone away from ear that results in screen turning back on, the call drops. I called fi and theyre just sending a new sim. It does the same thing when using hangouts to make wifi calls , with sim out. So i dont think its the network.
Update:
I called google, where I got my nexus 6. He told me to go into safe mode. The problem did not exist while in safe mode. He said if problem does not exist on safe mode than its an app causing the issue. Now what?

iOS via USB OTG

Has anyone been able to connect to an iOS device with this phone and USB OTG. I know next to nothing about iOS, but have a guy on my crew who uses iOS in the field...with spotty reception at best (middle of nowhere) and if he takes photos in the field I would like to be able to transfer to mine that has great service to be able to email back to the office.

Any suggestions, other than the one I already gave him to throw away the iPhone 6 plus and buy a real phone with Android?

Hangouts Crash in Work Profile SMS

Hangouts repeatedly crashes when trying to type a GVoice SMS in my Android for work profile. It works correctly in my main profile. I'm able to create a new message, but as soon as I try to type in the text field, it crashes. When installed as a system app, it just tells me it has crashed and I have to click OK. When installed as a user app, it gives me the option to report the crash. The system info from the report suggests that the app is trying to do something with another SMS function.

I have tried reinstalling and recreating the work profile. I have installed the latest nightly CM and the latest openGapps. I've tried excluding hangouts in Gapps and manually installing from the Play Store. I've tried manually installing an older version because I found a relevant thread on Google Product Forums.

I have the same setup on my Z300c (Zenpad 10) which is running rooted stock (Android 5.0), and I'm not having any problems.

Touch screen latency

I couldn't find anything on search for this but I just recently got this phone and everything about it is great except for the touch screen. Whenever I scroll through anything the delay is really apparent and even though it scroll smoothly. The touch input is very long. It's like scrolling with a rubber band. Also whenever I try to type really fast messes up sometimes. Is this a known issue or is it just my device that had terrible touch latency?

removing navigation buttons

Just wondering if there is a mod out there that can remove navigation button until you need them? I know they had one for MM to where you can press button at bottom and make them go away until you actually needed them....do they have one for N? Thanks in advance to all who reply. :good:

Need help galaxy mega stuck in boot loop

I was using my Mega like normal, tweeting. All of the sudden it froze so I pulled the battery. Now it's stuck in a reboot loop. Tried resetting and clearing cache in recovery but its still stuck. Please help!

Help me please.need a rom for alcatel one touch c5?

So my alcatel one touch pop c5 would randomly shut off 20 secs in and few minutes later it wont boot past the startup screen.I went into recovery and cleared cache,did a factory reset and now every time I turn it on "Android is updating optimizing app 1 of 5.."and when its almost complete it would freeze and go back to the startup screen and it repeats all over again.I wrote about this on some site and I was told I need to flash a ROM but I dont have a sd card and this adb thing is confusing ,help?:crying: btw I do not have an advanced option in recovery mode

Annoying problem with my LG G3 D-855

Display Issue after latest update to android wear

Hi Experts , after the latest update to Android wear, my watch worked almost fine the whole day but then suddenly the display become distorted - have rebooted the watch multiple times but of no avail.

Thou the watch was connected but was useless as i cant see anything. I then unpaired it hoping that a factory reset might fix but that didnt help either. I suspect the display has become faulty or some other hardware error --- your thoughts please?

RedMi 3s no System installed

Hi, the story is:
I got the phone with unlocked bootloader. I try to install TWRP. After it was installed I wiped data/cache/dalvik/internalstorage/system:crying:. After this I tried to install the latest global ROM but after a few secs the display turns black. Now I can only boot in the Fastboot. I try to install ROMs with MiFlash but everytime I got errors.
Does anyone knows an solution or is this device now not repairable? :crying::confused:

[Android 6.0.1] White list for lockscreen notification

Hello

I have a lot of notification in my lockscreen, i can hide it in apps > (the application) > display in lockscreen but only by single apps.

It's like blacklisted an app

I want the same thing, but in white list mod

For example if I Just want sms and mail notification in the lockscreen I choose these two in a white list and all the others App I have can't display a notification in the lockscreen

I search on Google but I only find a thread in xda asking for how to hide weather notification in the lockscreen, but it's not what I looking for

And I find nothing on xposed, so did you have an idea of one apps can do the job?

No HOTSPOT menu

hi all!! well when i enter to SETTINGS, i dont have HOTSPOT menu. :/ someone can help me? my phone is Note 7 Sprint. And i use other apps to share wifi (others wifi hotspot apks) and any device i connect to the internet cant navigate (no ip address), but i can navigate to any page.

Someone have the same problem? or how to ENABLE wifi hotspot menu?

Root after soft brick

I just want to know if i can still root my phone.. I soft brick my phone.. So i search for a stock rom in the net then flash it and thank God it get my phone running again... Instructions:
0. Make a full backup of your phone, coming from stock you will loose all data, since this disables force encryption!
1. Install a custom recovery for your phone, like this one here:TWRP
2. Follow the instructions on the page above, until you get a working recovery
3. Download the Kernel from below and copy it to your external SD Card
4. Reboot to your recovery by pressing volume up, home button and power button at the same time.
5. Now, since mentioned many times, this kernel get's rid of force encryption, so you need to wipe all data
6. Go to Wipe, click on format data, write "yes" then reboot to recovery
7. Go to wipe, advanced wipe, select: cache, data, internal sdcard, dalvik cache and wipe them all
8. Install zip/select the kernel
9. Flash supersu, phh's root or xposed, just all things that modify your boot.img
10. Wipe cache and dalvik cache (recommand)
11. Reboot

Flashed wrong boot.img now can't even start recovery.

I was trying to install custom recovery in my MMX A106 and accidentally flashed a wrong boot.img
Now when I start my phone it flashes the Micromax logo for a microsecond and then goes black.
I do had backed up the data but I need my stock or any other recovery to run the restore.
Kindly help.

Stuck in bootscreen forever. Feeling lost.

So I tried to root my phone but accidentally I accepted that TWRP root my phone, so now it keeps rebooting in the HTC logo.

Things you need to know:
Bootloader is unlocked.
IDK if I could in fact root it.
S-ON
Can't run fastboot command since pc won't recognize the device ("waiting for any device" after typing adb devices).
Phone bought in Mexico, got the RUU, not an executable file, though.
Flashed twrp 3.0.2.-0
Flashed SuperSU v2.46

Cases that feel like actual phone

Everyone is stating the phone feels great without a case. What do we do buy cases day 1 and eliminate that feel. I feel I take off my spigen crystal case just to feel the phone daily. At this point just about every case for the note 7 has been purchased.

iris scanner infrared light as remote control

I have been looking around the internet, and cant find any discussion about this,

Has anybody looked into/ or thought about the possibility of using the infrared light on the note 7 as a remote control?

Essentially from what I have gathered, the iris scanner has a seperate IR blaster to help detect your iris', so it stands to reason that if we could gain access to the control for the IR we could use it as a remote control.

I would love to see what the geniuses here can come up with, because I know it is to many a novelty, but there are a good number of us that really put that function to use.

If there is anyone more knowledgable about this then please make this happen!

Also if I am missing something, then please show me why this either is, or isnt possible.

551ML help revert back to original Asus firmware, boot and relock bootloader.

Hi guys, I need your help reverting back to everything original for the zenfone2 551ML (64gb / 4gb ram).
This included;
Getting back the original asus bootloader and relock it
Flash asus original firmware (i have a custom rom now)
Unroot the phone and completely remove xposed as well.

The phone works and boots and does everything fine (except the damned dead lcd that sometimes works)

No power up.

Hey gang, I've got a shot at getting a TouchPad but it doesn't power up. Owner says it it does nothing.. I'm thinking about trying the power and home button trick while on charger, but if it's a dead battery I've no knowledge on how to do it. I've never been inside mine.. I'm no developer. Barely have learned ROM tricks.. My question is how do I find out if it's a bad battery or something else else?

Ringtone problems

This sounds really stupid but anyone else having a problem with the ringtone you select staying? I select a ringtone and then verify but every time I get my first call after it goes to dumb Verizon airwaves ringtone. My notification tones stick like normal. Just really getting annoying.

Need Camera FIX for Basedband version 19301iXXUAPG1

So after I've tried a lot of camera fixes i found out in this forum and bricking a lot of times my phone by downloading wrong things my only chance is left here. I really need my Camera and my torch on my CM12.1 so i think i just need to get camera fix zip for my specific baseband version which is 19301iXXUAPG1 to have my camera working. My camera is popping out that usual camera not working or cant open camera.Can any of you guys post me a camera fix for my Galaxy S3 Neo GT-19301i one that actually works and if u do a detailed instruction would be very appreciated.

Warranty repair - Worst experience ever. (Australia)

So I have a hardware issue, the back camera stopped working. If I push that area very tightly, the camera will work (so i'm assuming some loose connection)
So I contact Sony and they've referred me to a company called "Fonebiz" that have been contracted out to do their repairs. First of all, there is only 1 location in Australia and it must be mailed and the turn around time is "around 2 weeks"

Took 1 week for the phone to arrive in their office (their RMA system) a further 4 days until I get an email saying "Software has been modified - Proceed with quote ($445)" payment must be made for them to continue or $45 for reject and send it back (I have picked this)

I call in the customer service, "Yes? how may I help?"

I know I have unlocked bootloader, but this is the software side, how are they not able to repair the camera without doing all this - I understand if that's their process, then it's fine - I'm just here to tell all the people if they are deciding to get the Z5 compact, don't.

What are your views on this?

I'm no longer a z5 compact user - looking at s7edge!

How does moving apps between "internal app storage" and "sd card" work o 4.4.2?

Hi!

I have a rooted A3500F and cannot figure out which partitions and directories are involved in the aforementioned operation. What the system is showing is very confusing, e.g. with Google Earth:

1) installed in "internal app":
settings: storage available = 2.55 GB, apps (data & media )= 8.31 GB, system = 2.92 GB
app info: total = 206 MB, app =~ 26 MB, data = 180 MB

2) installed in "sd card":
settings: storage available = 2.59 GB, apps (data & media )= 8.32 GB, system = 2.92 GB
app info: total = 223 MB, app =~ 43 MB, data = 180 MB

So system and "app data " do not change. But the rest in the "app info" does not add up! :confused:
First it total + app = 232 MB whereas on sd it amounts to 266. Where the extra 34 MB comes from? Thin air? :)

This is very confusing and the system developers did really poor job in breaking down these amounts for users...

I was able to figure out that sdcard = /data/media/0 = /storage/emulated/0 = /mnt/sdcard and possibly "internal app" is somewhere on /data/media/? /data/app? /data/cache? /data/system?

I wonder what kind of hard limit this "moving" operation is overcoming if everything seems to occur on the "/data" partition and the "/system" does not change? Why is it available in the "app" setting? I use AIO tool to make such move in batch but I'm not sure of the benefits?

Also the "Apps" setting shows 2.9 GB free for the "Downloaded" section and 2.6 GB free for the "SD card" - where do these numbers come from? (it shows in both cases 10GB used and I know that /system takes up 3GB)

It's also weird on my Xperia C1505, e.g. app info storage about AOI Toolbox shows: total 4.4 MB, app on phone 6.17 MB and data on phone 4.4 MB. How could it be that "total" <> "app + data" ?! What then the "total" means?

Apps:
Downloaded / "Phone memory": 643 MB used 96 MB free (total of 740 results from what?)
Internal storage: 592 MB used 1.4 GB free
Running / RAM: 363 MB used 46 MB free (where did 100 MB of RAM go?)
All / "Phone memory": 643 MB used 96 MB free

How are these numbers related to the specs: 0.5 GB RAM, 4 GB internal ?

This is very confusing!

Is this all somehow related to the cache for running apps?

I tried searching for answers on various forums but did not find a good explanation, where it would be simply, unquestionably stated between exactly which directories or partitions this "move" is done.

I would greatly appreciate your help with this problem.

Use one Android device to push video to another

Is there an app that allows one to push video from one Android device to another and have it play without having to press anything on the second device?

My goal is to be able to select a video on my phone and have it start playing on my kids Android tablet while we are in the car. This will make life way easier on long drives.

I figure there must be a way via wifi, Bluetooth, or even dlna but I can't find anything through my search methods.

I am not looking to mirror my screen at all, just to send the video to the device.

True contact doesn't work with Mtc-service 2.2x on Mtcd Kgl

Hi @dsa8310,
I follow xposed thread under Mtcb forum and attempt to use mtc-service 2.2x on my Mtcd kgl with Truecontact. When I make a call with Truecontact, it allows me to choose Mtc-service. However, there is no Bluetooth calling. The screen shows "Calling: xxxxxxxxxx" but there is no activity after.
The cat log shows Java exception in /system/private-app for ...microntek.jar where it couldn't find BTDevice class..

I would like to know if there is any solution for the problem that I have. I am a newbie in this forum.

Stuck on Huawei logo - bricked?

I was flashing a rom via twrp and the rom errored out. I tried reflashing but each time the rom didn't install fully. I wiped, rebooted and hoped for the best. Now, I'm stuck at the opening Huawei screen. Fastboot does not work. My computer recognizes the watch and shows HUAWEI WATCH under Universal Serial Bus devices in Device Manager. I've tried sending commands via command prompt but it just shows < waiting for device >. Any ideas on how to fix? I greatly appreciate any help. Thank you!

Simple question about firmware flashing, can't seem to find the answer

So I see plenty of ROMs posted that say you need such and such firmware to run it, but never instructions on flashing firmware. I used Sunshine, so I am s-off/rooted but bootloader is still locked, running stock ROM. My phone tries to do the OTA firmware update from last week, but fails because the system partition has unexpected data. I thought if I flashed stock recovery back that I could get OTA's, I guess not.

My question is, what is the best way to manually flash the 1.82.605.6 firmware? Do I just rename the .zip I have, put it in the root of the sd and boot into download mode? All I'm worried about is not losing s-off and of course not bricking my device. I really don't care if data gets wiped, but I'd like to avoid it if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated it, I've been looking for a solid answer to this for a couple of days because I didn't want to post this question and get chewed out for not looking first, but I can't seem to find a clear 100% answer to this. Thank you in advance.

[Q] touchscreen problem in new phone Desire 610

Hi,
I've received "new" Desire 610 and it seems like the phone does not detect all touch events.
Has anyone experienced something similar?
I've tried performing a factory reset and screen calibration.
Checking touch events in Developer mode seems to confirm that the phone does not detect all of them.

Tablet crashing after removing bloatware...

I successfully rooted my tablet with kingroot, in order to uninstall the bloatware such as disney ebooks and netnanny.

After removing these apps, its crashing with this message:

"unfortunatley, the process com.android.systemui has stopped"

Any idea on how to fix this?
Factory reset does nothing. Im hoping i can get a custom ROM, can anyone help here? A later android build would be great.

Stuck In a bootloop any help?

I decided to downgrade to 4.5.3 i rooted then went to flash TWRP with flashify it flashed, the kindle fire said its battery was at 10 but apparently it wasn't I clicked ok to reboot with flashify then it gave me the low red battery screen so when i hold down the power button it gives me the red battery so i plug it in and instead of giving me the the lightning bolt it shows the white amazon screen then goes black then shows the white amazon screen again if i plug it in and hold volume up and power it boots into stock recovery with the your fire failed to start factory reset or reboot factory resetting does nothing
anyway to fix this. :confused:

Can't access efs files at all from cm

When I try to access my /efs/ folder my phone immediately reboots. When I try to extract efs1.emmc.win from my backups, nothing is extracted. Is my efs corrupt? I'm on CM 13 for N910H, and I'm trying to switch to stock ROM by copying my nv_data files over to my stock /efs/ if I can actually access /efs/ through a file manager on my phone.

Battery dead?

My N10 started to automatically power off a few months ago when the battery indicator showed 10%, and that power-off number gradually increased over the past few months. Two days ago it automatically powered off when the battery was 25%. But the trouble now is that, when plugged in with a power adaptor, the battery does not seem to get charged even though it shows charging when I push the power button. I tried to power it on once, but it automatically powered off again.

Is it an indication that the battery is dead?

Also, when I was trying to remove the battery, I broke some piece around the pins on one of the ribbon cables. Can this cable be replaced somehow?

G5 SE (LG-H845) receiving its first ever firmware update

Region code IDN, receiving the August security patch today, firmware V10d-IDN-XX. Was previously on April. Patched one of the QuadRooter vulnerabilities, but not all of them quite yet. Seemingly nothing new in the software itself; maybe the home screen folder background became a little more transparent? Can't decide if that's just my imagination.

Droid Incredible Bootloop root

I know these are old forums and old phones, but I'm hoping someone can still help me. I have a Dinc and I am trying to root it, it is stuck in the white htc incredible endless reboot and I would like to hopefully get it to work again. I was able to get the hboot unlocked but I can"t do anything more since I can't put the phone in to usb debugging. Fastboot commands work, but anything with adb will not work and is says the device is unavailable. Anyone with any info is greatly appreciated!!

Remix Os - Alienware - Kingston USB - error -22

Remix OS worked for a month on my Alienware laptop.
Now it is not working. I get the following error: string description 0 read -22

I have tried everything from format USB to download new Remix OS and nothing.

Flashing to g930u

Hiya,guys! A newbie here. I want help with flashing my g930v pf2 as of 1st of july,2016 to g930u mainly for the battery life cuz now i get 3 to 4 hrs maximum before my phone cries for a charger (below 15%).
So i know that i should root in order to backup but how do i backup with flashfire?
Secondly,which rom should i choose bcs smb here uploaded samfirm and the other rom is in the at&t topic?
Third question is what do u do before flashing cuz i remember from previous phones where twrp was available that i had to delete cache and dalvik? R there any other things that must be done before or after the flash?
And last but not least,r u using the fast charger function only with the original charger and does it really charge faster?

Troubleshoot Random Resets?

Hello

I'm getting 1-2 restarts almost daily, and what is consistent is that the phone will short-vibrate once, then a pause of about 8 seconds, then two quick short-vibrates in succession (about .25 sec apart) and then the phone restarts.

This can happen when in my pocket, it can happen while actively using it, can also happen when just sitting there on my desk with screen on. I haven't seen a pattern regarding app use or activity triggering the restart.

I posted a question a month ago about how people with Androids can troubleshoot restarts. There HAS to be a way (app, etc) that allows you to see crashlogs **without** rooting your phone. Yet, I got no replies here to my last post.

Is this really such a hard thing to do with Android? Please, tell me if I'm wrong and missing something completely obvious. I'm right now factory resetting my phone cause I can't figure what's causing this.

Can't save web page to homescreen

Has anyone else noticed that the 'Save to home screen' menu item is missing from Chrome on the Fire? I installed Chrome on mine and it works fine, but when I click on the menu in the upper right, there is no save to home screen there. It's there on my Samsung phone and tablet as well as other folk's tablets that I've tried. Searching the web, there do seem to be some phones that have this item missing as well.

Is this some configuration thing that Amazon foisted on us?

Disable apps on MIUI 8

Hi at all. I've noticed that after the update to MIUI 8 is disappeared the option to disable apps (on MIUI 7 was possible). From official forum I've read this, so MIUI consider a feature this thing. I think that all want to be free to disable some apps. Is possible to enable this again without root or using twrp?

Ampe A78 does not enter bootloader mode from adb

hello experts
I have a dual core ampe a78 3g tablet (cpu qualcomm msm8625-Android 4.04)
Using the "adb reboot bootloader" command, the device reboot and display the message "[1030] fastboot bootloader ...." but does not enter the fastboot mode.
If I use the "adb reboot recovery" command, restart and enter recovery mode correctly (<3e> recovery)
Need some suggestion on how to enter bootloader mode if possible.

Power,Volume and camera buttons have all stopped working... and now the phone is off

The title is pretty self explanatory. Noticed when i woke up that neither the power, volume or the camera buttons work. They still clicked when pushed but no function beyond that. The phone its self still worked before i pressed the yellow reset button next to the sim card slot. when i pressed the yellow reset button the phone vibrated and turned off, never to come back on. When i plug it into a charger it still has the LED light except its off so i cant just press the power button to turn it back on. When plugged into the computer, then computer recognises that a device has been plugged in (makes the dun-duh! sound) but the phone is not recognised by either the PC companion or Sony EMMA. Same deal with pulling it into a mac. The Sony mac companion program pops up automatically , it says it does not have any device connected, despite it popping up when i plug my phone in...Ive put adb on my computer and tried adb reboot but again it does not recognise the phone while its off. Is there anything i can do to fix this phone or at least turn it back on? I've spent enough on getting this phone prepared as it is so a DIY fix would be great.any help at all would be much appreciated, thanks

I'd love to have a clipboard app that's quickly accessible through the air command menu. Right now I use clipper but it goes to the full screen app. I'd love instead some sort of easily dismissable menu/widget. Any suggestions?

Looking for a sustainable way to update a rooted 930/5.

My objective is to find a way to regularly apply updates without having to rebuild each time. I know there is TiBu, but it is still a lot of work to rebuild my setup. Titanium does not restore some settings, frozen apps, widgets, or blocked broadcast receivers/services. They take a long time to reestablish.

Ideally, I can simply restore from a FlashFire /data backup after an update. Unfortunately, it has not worked out. While on PF1, I made a full backup. After updating to PF2, re-root, and restoring /data with FlashFire, the phone boots, but IMS and other core processes FC while the CPU stays at near 100% constantly. I don't know why.

I am looking for a way to either 1) update without wiping the /data partition, or 2) restore from FlashFire and have the phone boot/work properly afterwards.

Any ideas??

On a related note--I know I can 'go back to stock' and take the OTA. Question is--how 'stock' do I have to be? Do I have to flash the stock package or is removing root from SuperSU enough? I was thinking that if I can somehow take the OTA while keeping my /data partition intact, I can then just re-root.

I would appreciate any input.

How Do Android File Explorers Show FIles Outside Of App Sandbox?

So I am futzing about trying to do some folder browsing outside my app sandbox from an android app, and I cannot figure out how on an unrooted phone can these terminal apps allow navigation into /system folders and show read only files owned by root? I understand these files cannot be modified without rooting, but my little old android app cannot seem to see anything but its own sandboxed portion of the file system.

So how do non-root file manager apps get around the file system, using what api? This is probably totally stupid and I apologize in advance, but I have searched numerous explorers on github and have no answer yet. Of course I know using adb I can use the toybox versions of common linux file tools, but I also noticed simple terminal emulator apps in paystore are able to do this as well (simple id, ls, pwd, and cd), and they seem to be android apps with a proper apk etc.

What am I missing? How does one do those things from within a "proper" android app? Do JNI code module that makes old school linux file system requests?

How are these apps different from a standard android java app, what do they do differently?

Black screen worries

Hi
The last Samsung phone I had was a note 3,after a couple of months very light use it inexplicably developed a black screen,it still had full sound,hardware button lights still worked,it still vibrated and the blue notification light was still present,the screen was just black though.
I wouldn't mind if I'd dropped it or something,but I'm ocd with my tech,and the phone had hardly been used...yet the screen problem happened,I swore I'd never get another Samsung.
But....I do like the look of the s7 edge lol,so I'm wondering if there are any reported problems like black screen?

After latest "social" update I can't see the gallery's album names

Hi guys,

Did this happen to you as well? After the latest "social" update (which I won't be using), the gallery has now the option for Stories, and they remade the Albums tab so now it's a list, instead of the neat previous arrangement of two colums of thumbnails for the folders. And in my case, it's a list without the album names, only the numbers of pictures in each album. Is everyone facing the same issue? Or is it the gallery not figuring out the dark theme?

Please help: Using a Verizon 7 EDGE in a GSM market with new SIM?

How do I get a Verizon S7 Edge to recognize a new GSM SIM? I want to use it on another carrier, and Verizon says it's not SIM-locked/carrier locked but when I put in the new SIM, it's not working.

Factory reset didn't work. Would an Odin flash work? IF not, what would?

Help: No LTE ONLY option in Network Mode

I only got LTE/3G/2g (auto connect) function, 3G only and 2G only in the network mode selection
Is there a package that I can just flash or any workaround? the "*0011# " code doesnt work
the app 4G/LTE Switcher is working but it still no LTE ONLY option in the Network mode.
I was planning to set LTE only in sim slot 2.
